Gary Dourdan pleads guilty to felony drug possession
31 May 2008

Gary Dourdan, has pleaded guilty to two of three counts of felony drug possession yesterday.  The 41-year-old actor will not be serving time behind bars.

The CSI actor, was arrested on April 28 in Palm Springs for drug possession after being found asleep in his car, allegedly in the driver's seat, parked on the wrong side of the road.  Dourdan was charged with felony possession of heroin, cocaine and ecstasy.

The first charged against him, for having heroin, was dropped.  Dourdan pleaded guilty to the possession of coke and ecstasy charges at his arraignment in Indio, California.  According to his lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley, the CSI actor could have served up to three years and eight months in prison.

"Once Gary completes 30 hours of a diversion program, his case will be entirely dismissed," Holley told The Associated Press in an e-mail.  "There is no jail time involved."

TMZ.com, which first reported the news, reveals that Dourdan has already enrolled in treatment program that consists of 30 hours of classes which usually meet once a week.

Meanwhile, Dourdan owning up to his actions clearly contradicts his statement earlier this month when he denied the whole drug possession controversy.

"I am blessed that the Sgt. realized that the luggage carrying whatever they found was not mine and that my tests have been coming back negative," Dourdan explained at the time to Access Hollywood.  "I've been happy to cooperate in any way to clear myself and go on with my blessed life."
